This is a basic layout of the ContentOne Editor.
For more information on how to perform tasks in ContentOne, click on an icon.
HTML Button –[
Styles Drop-Down –[
]– This function adjusts font size and image placement on the page.
To change font size, highlight the text and choose a new ‘style-size’.
To change image placement, select the inserted image and choose a new ‘style’ eg: image-right, which would move the image to the right side of the page.
Format Drop-Down –[
]– This function adjusts the textual layout. Highlight a section of copy/text and choose the layout type for this section.
Scissors Icon –[
]– Highlighting a section of text/copy or selecting an image and clicking this icon will ‘Cut’ it from the editor. This function exhibits the same behavior of the Cut function in a word processing software.
The ‘Cut’ function isn’t available by default in Mozilla/Firefox, this feature can be turned on by changing the settings in Mozilla/Firefox.
Copy Icon –[
]– The function of this icon is to ‘Copy’. Text can be copied by first highlighting the text and then clicking the ‘copy’ icon.

Paste Icons - There are three ‘types’ of pasting in ContentOne. Each serves a specific purpose.

] – The first is a regular paste function which will paste in whatever is in the clipboard.

] – The second paste function will strip out any formatting of the text and remove all hidden HTML code from the item to be pasted. Any text copied from Webpages, email clients or any word processor other than Microsoft Word.

] – The third paste function is specifically for Microsoft Word products. When copying and pasting text from Microsoft Word, use this paste function. If this function is not used, then the webpage may not save or display properly on the site.
Search Icon –[
]– This is a standard ‘find/search’ function. This function will search through the content and find a word or statement.
Find/Replace Icon –[
]– Replace is an extended functionality of the search function. Here you can define what you would like to have put instead of the search term. If you keep the field for the replacement empty a match of the search term will get erased.
Bold Icon –[
]– Highlighted text is formatted in bold print.
Italic Icon –[
]– Highlighted text is formatted in italic print.
Underline Icon –[
]– Highlighted text is formatted in underlined print.
Strikethrough Icon –[
]– Highlighted text is formatted in strikethrough print.
Align Left Icon –[
]– Text or images placed on this line are aligned to the left.
Align left is the default format.
Center Icon –[
]– Text or images placed on this line are centered.
Align Right Icon –[
]– Text or images placed on this line are aligned to the right
Align Full Icon –[
]– Text placed on this line is evenly spread out across the workspace.
Bullet List Icon –[
]– This icon inserts a bulleted list into the workspace.
Numbered List Icon –[
]– This icon inserts a numbered list into the workspace.
Outdent/Indent Icons –[

]– These icons shift the text either to a justified position or to an inner placement, similar to a word processor’s indent function.
Undo Icon –[
]– This icon retracts the actions or changes that were just completed.
Redo Icon –[
]– This icon will perform the actions that have just been undone with the undo action.
Insert / Edit Link Icon –[
]– This function will add a hyperlink to text or an image. A hyperlink is simply an internet address.
Depending on the version of ContentOne, there are two different methods for implementing hyperlinks.
The purposed of linking text or images is to connect one page of content to another. Using a textual or graphic link allows the end-user to effectively browse from one section of your website to another.
There are many types of internet addresses; the most common is the http://www web address; other addresses include FTP, MailTo and MMS..
Use one of the methods below to link pages within ContentOne.
Link Method 1: (Internal ContentOne Pages, Uploaded Content)
1. Highlight the appropriate text or picture. (The Link icon becomes active).
2. Click the ‘link’ icon, which opens the Insert/edit popup box.

4. Depending on your ContentOne version there are different folders to choose from.
There is an ‘internal web pages’ folder which houses all the contentone pages
The other folder contains all user uploaded content using the upload manager.
5. Click the folder icon next to the appropriate folder name.
6. Click the folder icon next to the folder which has the page to link to in it.
7. Click the file icon next to the appropriate page.
8. Thebox now has the appropriate HTML code.
9. If this link should open in a new window, change the ‘Target’ drop down to ‘Open link in new window’.
The default behavior is to open in the same window.
10. Click the Insert button.

4. Choose ‘Open in a new window’ from the ‘Target’ option if this link should open a new window when clicked.

Unlink Icon –[
]– To remove a link, highlight the linked text or image and click this icon.
Anchor Icon –[
]– The anchor is useful for creating links to content within a page.
Insert / Edit Image Icon –[
]– This function allows for images to be added to the content of the site.
Depending on the version of ContentOne, there are two different methods for adding images.
Add Image Method 1:
1. Click the ‘

2. If adding a picture from an address on the internet, enter the address in the box to the right of the ‘Find Image’. If not proceed to step 3.3. Click the

Vertical / Horizontal Space: Increasing these numerical values will increase the whitespace around an image when text is wrapped around the image.

Cleanup Messy Code Icon –[
]– This icon cleans up HTML code, perhaps from HTML text that was copied from another source. This function will also remove duplicate hidden HTML tags.
Line Icon –[
]– Inserts a Horizontal Line at the cursor which extends across the page. The horizontal line is often used to separate sections of text.
Remove Format Icon –[
]– This icon removes formatting on highlighted text: bold, italics or CSS classes. This function is often used on text which was copied in from another source.
Toggle Guidelines/Invisible Elements –[
]– Hides or displays the invisible elements of your article.
Subscript/Superscript Icons –[

]– Formats text for use as scientific notation.
Insert Custom Character Icon –[
]– Choose from a selection of custom text characters.
Select Text Color Icon –[
]– Changes the color of highlighted text using a color picker.
Select Background Text Color Icon –[
]– Changes the background color of highlighted text using a color picker. (Used to simulate ‘highlighted’ text’.)
Table Editor Icon –[
]– These are various tools used for implementing a table into the content. Tables are an excellent way to manage data in a grid system.
